In the meantime: peonies in a sunray in my studio. I have a little Nikon coolpix, according to modern standard she is OLD, 5 years or so, but I love it when she sees what I see.

Hello Andrea, what an honor to be able to see what you see today. These flowers in the slant of the sun are incredible! I also love the sun on the chrome of the fabulous stool (chair).
Isn't it funny how 5 years old seems old for a perfectly lovely camera? We just purchased our daughter that same camera as a Christmas gift this past year, so I am glad to know it is serving you well.
My friend, may the images of the Peonies dancing in the Sun go with you throughout your day as you attack that list of things to accomplish! I know it will be a great part of my day.

Came back to see your pretty sunlite flowers. my light pink peonys are about to open up into blooms. My Dark pickish red one already did. They are so lovely to look at.

You asked me what a gourd is some time back and I missed that until now. Sorry for the delay in responding. A gourd is kind of like a squash, but is not edible. It has a tough skin and when left to dry at the end of the season, is hollow inside. People here cure the outer skin and do decorative painting, or staining to them. They make really nice birdhouses and weather well. Native Americans used them for vessels, ladles, spoons, bowls, etc. They are very versatile. The picture I took and posted on my blog showed gourds that had been cut up and painted to create those dolls. If you go back to the picture and enlarge it you will see some finished gourds on the left side. Also, if you Google "gourd art" you will find some rather nice examples.

Katie Jane, thanks so much for explaning me the gourds. I went back to your blog to look at them and saw the "whole" gourd on the left of the picture. They are so big and so perfectly smoothly shaped. I have never seen such big ones here in Europe, only little ones, which you put in a basket to decorate your house in fall.
I'll do some more research on the gourdart:) , I'm fascinated now:)

Good luck with your research, Andrea. I have been fascinated with gourd art for several years and I've tried to grow them here at home, but not with much success. Last year was too dry and they were planted in an area that was hard to water manually. I've planted them again this year so hopefully I'll have something to work with next year. (It takes a season to grow them and then it takes the winter to dry them out.) You can also buy unfinished gourds online and I may do that to hurry the process. I'm just trying to grow some for the fun of it.
Some people like to take a woodburning tool and etch outlines of leaves and pictures on them and then stain them with ink or stains. I think the whole process is fascinating and something I'd really like to try.
Very beautiful peonies and the suns rays highlight them perfectly. When I take pictures of flowers I put them on my mobile phone desktop.
And i love what your eyes see, Andrea.

Katie Jane, thanks so much for all these useful information on gourds. In French it is called "gourdes" or "calebasses":) I looked and found that here too one can find unfinished one's. I just love the perfect shape of these things, they are incredible, especially the big ones. The tiny ones are cute, too:)

...is that why I hate lists... They are a visual annoyance? I am that way...the only reason to make a list is to connect with a piece of paper with a mark making instrument. :)

Hi Kim:) yes that is what makes lists fun, the writing down of the different points, cause writing is pleasure:)
In the meantime, I have done some of the things I have to do but by no means all of them:
I have sent 10 email letters to illustration agencies, and I have scanned paintings which I haven't yet put in the archives (you'll se one of the paintings tomorrow here) and I have done exercises. Well I'll continue with the list tomorrow, it is in my head, anyway:) thanks always for commenting, love what you have to say:)
