Metroheads - Women with coloured background and child studies

I wanted to know what happens, if I do it the other way round: put colour in the background and leave the portraits as they are.. it gives a very graphical touch to these Metroheads, I like it how the background colour brings forward the lines of the drawing...

The woman with the curly hair - she has gone away, into the book, is shaking hands with the protagonist, wonders how he/she will get out of the mess...

The woman with the baseball cap - pensive, or just tired, she has opened the door to her imagination and looks at this wonderful countryside, beautiful with flower meadows and a little creek, willows and horses and cows grazing....

Love the effect that you get with the watercolor background. I especially like that one with the baseball cap.

Hi Andrea!

I love the painted backgrounds! You are right, they really do bring forward the lines of the drawings themselves. LOVE the way it presents this way.

I also love the children...really great!

Thanks for reminding us all of looking at life with various sets of eyes!

Its fun coming here to see what and who you have captured next.

The woman reading is in the world of the book. We all 'live' in our heads so to speak and its interesting what our faces show. You do a good job of capturing that.

hi Sue, thanks for your comment and visit:) I love baseball caps (the real ones:)

Kim, hi, I guess I too often forget to turn things upside down, I do it with my paintings, but should do it more often, things fall into places afterwards...But so often we stick to the "normal" approach, the left side taking over:)
thanks so much for your comment Kim!

the backgrounds, blue, red, 'white' (neutral), makes me think of the french flag ;o) maybe because we see them everywhere around the 14th July ;o)

Emelire: I wonder: perhaps the 14th of July had this effect on me? On my subconsciousness? Who knows, but I like the idea, me being German, painting people in FRench colours, very European, I love that:)

Thanks for your great comment!

Axelle is quite beautiful and you have captured something in her eyes that is provocative.
I do like how the colored background brings out the lined drawings. Boths ways are good however...love your work...all of it.
And liked learning that your metro takes you past meadows with flowers, lovely places to see on your way home. Cute kids too.

Lynn, thanks so much for your comment, I guess sometimes you have to have access to your mind's meadows, when living in a big city:)

I love so much your paintings, even more than your drawings... why ? because, it's deeper, it's much more the matter... but I like the drawings, Miss Doodle, Paris... but you are here... more ?

Thank's for all.

Liebe Andrea, I'm back again!!!
Ach, was paßt mir daran nicht.

Lucia Mel, :) thanks so much for your great comment, which is so thoughtful! It makes me think that I'm so happy to have the possibility to show different sides of my art here and there:) We need the lighter and more superficial things to counterbalance the darker ones, don't we? Have a wonderful day, Yin and Yang day, love, Andrea

Andrea

ah I understand you're German, it makes no difference anyway (except you can actually speak German) ;o) I could speak German 25 years ago ;o) I went to Germany, Bade Wurtemberg near Karlsruhe when I was very young, and last year with the kids we went to Freiburg in April, had a good week there, the weather was exceptionnally hot for Germany (and France either). Argh I like German food (cherry cake 'foret noire' :o) ! But we do not go beyond Alsace usually ;o)...

The color adds more emotion to the sketches. Perhaps the top one is reading a bloody murder mystery? And the next one is cool... the metro crowd doesn't get on my nerves.
