Exhibition Raoul Dufy

I have something for you, a special exhibition notebook. For your inspiration and mine, I cut out pictures of a brochure I got while visiting the exhibition, glued them in a notebook with white paper (rather thin but ok) in which I can play around the pictures with colour (gouache=more opaque watercolour, for kids in the school) and ink...

Enjoy the exhibition:) and have a wonderful weekend:

click on the images, you should be able to read the '(english!) text of the brochure

You and I must be on the same wavelength. I have been meditating on journaling for the last few months. I have a fire inside me to make a journal and it has just not made the transition from my thoughts to my "hands."
I have finally found my "medium" I think in Neocolors. Have you heard of them? I am so inspired by my experiments with them and feel energized. I have just "gessoed" a book to begin my journal. How fun.
Yours is a wonderful tribute to your visit and the artist.
XO

This post has given me a new appreciation for Dufy. As a child, I owned a series of small thin books about different artists, one was Dufy. I always found his paintings a bit dry and disconcerting. But no longer is that so. They are so full of color and life! I think seeing his works here on yr blog helps me to see how similar at times your watercolors are to his in style, the freedom and use of paint. I love seeing the photo of him with bowls of paints. And the last page of yours where you echo the window pane and round table in your side painting. Thanks you andrea for putting this journal together. Be well, Suki

A lovely inspiring post, thank you.
We are also big fans of Raoul Dufy, but just recently came across his brother Jean's work, have you seen it? Was it ignored because it was similar?
More here about their tricky relationship and some pics. http://www.normandythenandnow.com/an-eye-for-beauty-in-le-havre/
