This is the marketplace at Métro Michel Ange Auteuil. You have to come early if you do not like to wait in a row, but on the other hand it is fun to come when there are a lot of people with "caddies" and bags walking from stand to stand.
Today I went at around 9, which is still rather early for the Parisians.
I bought cheese - a piece of Beaufort and Saint Nectaire, half a Reblochon and a chunk of Parmesan, a salad - red batavia, filet de cabillaud, a little roasted chicken for lunch today and two pieces of Bavette d'Aloyau which is delicious red meat. I didn't by fruits although I was very tempted, but still have a lot at home which waits to be eaten.

Oh Andrea - I am very green with envy!! This looks like a wonderful marketplace. Do you frequent it often???? We have markets here -- but nothing like this!!!
Wow these are awesome shots Andrea. I saw some things I would have bought there. lol
We have a small farmers market set up on Saturdays but nothing like this. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the nice comments on my drawings today. I am having so much fun with my new pencils. oh and a birds mouth is a Beak.
Love these photos.
So very fabulously FRENCH! I too am jealous... Can I come share your lunch with you, sound divine..! ;-)
P.S. Your Brothers house... WOW too :-)
I tried on a black beret today, at our local market (not a patch on your market) but I cannot carry off a beret with your panache I'm afraid. My son said I looked 'silly'. sigh.... ;-)
What a delightful trip this was. I got so hungry looking in the market place I had to go to my on refrigerator and get some cheese to eat. (hadn't eaten since my coffee and berry scone this morning). The photos are brilliantly colorful, the green post marvy, the fish market people, the cheese stand, the meat and fruit all wonderful to see. I can almost hear the French being spoken. The air crisp. Oh I am THERE! Or wannabe! Do they throw the fish at the fish market like they do in Seattle, WA? I wonder.
that looks like a great time. and the weather is just right oo
What a great pictures you have made. It feels if I am walking through those parisian streets. Almost cab smell the falling leaves. I love foodmarkets/markets. I always try to be there as early as possible, so I can enjoy every stand there is. Now I know that I have to take my camera everyday.
What a fun thing to do, go to the market. So much nicer than a grocery store. Do you carry a string bag or is that only in English novels?
The pictures are lovely and as others have said it seems like I too am walking through the market, scuffing my feet through the leaves and asking for cheese in French.
Yes, it would have been great fun to go there together with you. Unfortunately, at the fish stand, they don't throw the fish, Lynn:) and I don't wear a string-bag but a "Rucksack" - my husband prefers the string-bag. And a lot of people do indeed shop with these. Or the rolling-bags (could be the name of a new rockband?). I have one but the alleys are so tiny that you always collide with people Elizabeth, I'm sure the beret wasn't the good size! And yes, my brother's hous is something! He bought an old barn and made a house of it. Did everything himself, with the help of friends and family, he is a real talent when it comes to woodwork and construction in general.
