MY PURSE and Women reading the menu

Today I got an unexpected phonecall from "FOUND OBJECTS" : They have found my purse at the Subway station right near the market, where the bad (not sooooo bad actually:) thief stole it... With everything still in it but the money. CC, ID, Driving licence, etc etc......

Saturday I had bought a new purse, and yesterday my new CC arrived. But I'm happy all the same because now I don't have to go for a new drivers licence and ID card and fidelity cards etc etc. And I'll use the new red (love red:) leather purse, cause it is not as big as the old one and doesn't stick out of every jacket-pocket. I'll use the old, big, bold, nice one for something else. Oh but for what purpose can you use a purse if not as a purse?

I sketched this woman a while ago, when on vaccation in Germany.

I was waiting for my parents in a restaurant and she looked so calmly concentrated on the menu. A perfect model...

Good news, Andrea! I was wondering if you had any success thief-hunting. Thank you for all the fascinating photographs and art you share with us

Hi Gunnel and Fifiquilter, thanks for your nice comments... - the thief-hunting wasn't really very successful. And I guess I'll still be a bit like a frightened chicken on that market, looking over my shoulders and right and left every other minute:)
Fifiquilter, I'm curious, do you have a blog where I can look at what you are up to? I couldn't find you on the Secret Knitter Swap.... have a great day , y'all.

FANTASTIC Andrea. But he was still BAD!! he didn't just steal your purse he stole your PEACE & violated your SPACE. Something that will take you awhile to feel comfortable with again. How nice tho that who ever found your purse turned it in so others couldnt use your ID's. Hope he didn't get much money.
Great drawing. I can feel her sitting there totally concentrating on her reading. unsupecting that she was subject matter for your wonderful drawing. ;)

Andrea, I'm glad you have your purse back. And I wish I could draw as well as you...
Bezüglich Deutsch, es waren mehrere Kommentare auf Deutsch, so ich fand es nett, auf Deutsch zu beantworten. Meine Muttersprache ist aber französisch...

Hurrah for your purse being found. What a relief not to have to apply for new cards and such except for the one you already did.

My friend A. had his wallet stolen and a few days later someone called saying he had found it in a puddle near the grocery store. So there are good people in the world.

Your sketches of people are wonderful as always. Does your Dad still sketch and do portraits?

Andrea, great to hear you have your red purse back. I agree with Chris that he violated your space. But the positive site is there are still also good people.

Bravo! So happy for you! The return of the RED Purse. Sounds like a good movie there.
Yes, all those cards can be more headache to replace than losing the money, but shame on him for taking that! Now you will carry very little when you go out and nothing that can be grabbed!
Now let me practice what I preach!

Wonderful feel to the woman reading the menu! Nice of her to stay still for you to do this. ;-)
Do you think she knew you were drawing her?

Thanks for all your nice comments on the "return of the red purse" (Lynn, that is a great title for this movie:)
Cris you are sweet and you make me laugh with that outburst:)abuot the thief still being bad.

The woman I was drawing: I don't think that she was aware of my sketching her, at least she never looked over to me once. That was a nice calm lady. After a few minutes she was joined by her husband or partner and my parents arrived and I had to stop but funny, how that image of this total stranger stays engraved in my memory still. That is the magic about drawing, you still see the things you draw - even after a long time...

Suki, my father still paints with watercolours - landscapes or animals, but he has trouble with one eye so he doesn't do it often as it is strenious for him and he hasn't the calm anymore to do it. I thought that the older you get the calmer you get too. But with him it is quite the opposite...

P.S. Dear reader, please be assured that I'm fully aware of the fact that I used the word "THAT" about a thousand times in my previous comment. I have to think about how to avoid it, so that (hummmpfff) you don't get annoyed.

Andrea I am so pleased you have your purse and most of it's contents back and I agree with Chris in Oregon thieves take more than material things they take our peace of mind too,

love the sketch,

I think Andrea that my outburst came from having come home years ago to someone in our Apartment robbing us. He got out without being face to face with me thank goodness and he got a few things but not everything he was planning on taking. I felt so violated for months after that even to the point we had to move.
Then my husband lost his wallet out of his pocket here in Oregon & someone saw it and told him right away before he had gone far.
As for your Dad. I think we get more frustrated with ourselves as we age because we cant do what we used to do with out more of a struggle. Not seeing well probably makes his work more a struggle now instead of a peaceful thing. He should remember that Monet kept up his painting even tho he was getting blind and things were getting out of focus, but they are none less beautiful. ;)
