Loreley Princess 1/2/3/4/5 and 6

LOVELEY PRINCESS - "Mermaid's Treasures" : Fishes and pearls, oceangreen and indigoblue, seaweeds, sea-anomones and friendly greenyellow turtles...
More pages of the trend-book I am creating at the moment. The trendbook is a workingtool which permits me to stay focused. And it is not something that I will sell, it is strictly personal, and the basis of my new design-collection (handpainted design using the artistique techniques I'm familiar with as well as new techniques I still have to discover, then translated into CAD design for industrial textile use.)

Inspired by the three trend-lectures given by very inspiring "trend-gurus" I have had the chance to listen to in Frankfurt, I have put together 6 overall themes or tendencies. Each of those themes has 3 or more different sections and two or three colourways.

I take pictures I made myself, or magazine-cuts or images taken in design-books, also free images I can find in the Internet ( I expressly underline that these images serve only as personal inspiration). I scan the images and then create a "board", according to the theme I'm working on. These are the 5 sections of "Loreley Princess" , my most romantic theme, a nice contrast to the "Cool Meditation.

LORELEY PRINCESS - "Cristal" is about pastel coloured flowers, crystal bowls, shining material like mother of pearl and silver paint, mobiles, lace, pink dresses, free birds and empty white bird-cages...

LORELEY PRINCESS - "The Peacock's Dream" dreams peacocks, birds, William-Morris Flowerprints, pink clouds and galant historical scenes...

LORELEY PRINCESS - "Lilac" sings of dandelions and graceful doves. It may look a bit rigourous but I think it is still romantic...

LORELEY PRINCESS- "Orange Heart and Polka Dots" is about pink, lilac and orange dots, felt hearts, simple plush-flowers combined with fake fur.

LORELEY PRINCESS - "Silhouettes" is about jade and goldbeige - coloured faded ornamental shapes, silhouettes of climbing vines, deer, dragon- and butterflies.

I am working on the last Princess-section this evening and will head to the next theme tomorrow. And the next post will be about the other "COOL MEDITATION" boards!

Have a good weekend!

love the silhouette on the bottom right of the page... given your description its probably a deer, but when I first saw it I thought llama :-)

Interesting process going on here -- it really makes the mind work. Lilac and Silhouette are sophisticated and soothingly suggestive, while still quite successfully falling under your "romantic" theme. I like those two very much and can see much potential within those images to evoke all kinds of emotion and imagination.

your trend boards are wonderful... brings me back to the days when I used to make these for a living myself... and buy prints from different artists, there was and is so much beautiful work out there and I always felt so bad that after admiring an artists stack of work I could not purchase any of the gems, all because they were not exactly what we were looking for. although when I did buy a design or several I felt really good! and wanted to that artist... Good luck to you with this venture... too bad I am not buying anymore...

I meant - I wanted to BE that artist...

So the textile world is telling us we are entering a romantic phase. Sounds like fun to me. Light and airy...almost little girly stuff...or young romantics...hearts and flowers...(my rose quilt would fit right in) ;-)
I look forward to what you create from these boards. I see them as jumping off boards onto the real thing.
The meditation theme is altogether different, a different feel to it.
Also nice.
This is so different from your mask making. Do you ever go back and forth between the different medias?

I am fascinated by this process and I'm in love with that Lilac board. It has a more contemporary feel to it than the rest of them. The Silhouette one is subdued but has a playful undertone. They're all wonderful.

It is so interesting to learn which of the "boards" you my friends prefer! Natalya, too bad that you are not buying anymore but I am so glad that you enjoy my trendshow:) And yes, I intend to go back and forth between textile art and my mask making but I guess, it needs a transition time each time I hop from one to the other. I have packed the mask in process under the bed, where it sleeps like a marmot until spring, or so:), - I'll have time to finish more masks until September this year. Perhaps we need a more cheerful, playful and superficial colour- and patternplay right now, - the mostly dark and very meaningful masks being a bit too heavy in this gloomy winter time:)
Talk to you soon,
Andrea

P.S. Lynn, in fact there will be 4 other themes coming, so I guess the textile world covers not only the romantic or cool style, but also more hard, techno and rigorous things, you'll see! Stay with me:)

All this is so interesting Andrea. I looked y'day but didn't comment and now ---Was the Mermaid trend board there y'day?? Rhetorical question. I like that very much. And the pinks, lilacs and last one too. I like what you say about putting away the heavy, dark masks project to simmer under the bed. Three lectures by trend guru's. Wow. You must be just bursting with inspiration. You are amazing......good luck. Suki

"It is so interesting to learn which of the "boards" you my friends prefer!"

I would pick out 'The Peacock's Dream', 'Lilac' and 'Orange Heart and Polka Dots' as my three favourites.

Thank you, Bad Faery, for letting me know! Suki the Mermaid's Treasure were not there yesterday:) I only finished them today. Right now I'm preparing the colourways for the Princess theme...

Oh these are wonderful. I really like the first three on the list. the first one that was on yesterdays list struck my fancy the most when it came to my mail box today. The one with the bird cage in it.
Wow is all I can say. You really have a good eye there. :)

oh it is Peacocks dream I like best and Lilac and Mermaids treasures. Had to look at the names again. I love the romantic look. I hope it is coming back in.

I LOVE Lorelay Lilac! What wonderful colors to live with! I like the Princess one - the business of it, the "hat with dry flowers" kind of feeling it gives me. I can imagine a lovely room from it, but the room I'd want to live in is definitely the pallette of Lilac. How fun this must be to work with! And I think this will definitely play into your mask making. I finding switching back and forth between clay and painting has the effect of changing my work in both mediums. Can't wait to see what comes next!

I absolutely love the last one added Mirmaid in tourquoises and off whites and I love the white shells behind the fish and the fish swimming around them. It looks very real. All your work is very exciting Andrea. I am so inspired by what you do and have been since we first met here. I look forward to MOREEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Andrea your pages are very interesting and remind me of the pages we had to do when I did my C&G embroidery, I like Lilac and Silhouettes best,
