The Earthspirits

The Earthspirits.

It is gloomy outside,
I feel murky inside.

Time for the earthspirits to take over.

The city and it's thousand stimulations suffocate me.

Back into the woods,
we will walk on earth not on concrete,
surrounded by space,
and the horizon,
we watch and do not think.

Morning Andrea. Weather quite bright but not for long the rain is on its way again. Another lovely painting your colours always stay so bright.

Hi Genie, bright sky not visible here. Weatherforecast gloomy too. But watercolours brighten our day, thanks so much for your comment. love, Andrea

lovely water color! water color seems the right medium for dreary days...and that comment about the thousand stimulations is exactly why I live far away from the city amidst the trees - where the spirits live...=] I'm sure cousins of these here live in my woods! (by the way - was catching up - love your journal pictures...Leah at Creative Every Day has been doing "splotch" pictures - I am in awe of the things the two of you get from blobs of color!)

Hello Sweet Andrea! I know just what you mean about the city wearing you down. Getting out of the city (in your case) to be surrounded by the countryside is important medicine for our spirits. (And I feel the same is true for those who live in the countryside). Spending some time with the opposite is healing. And the body can only take so much of constant work and meeting the needs of others.

Go, my friend, and take some time with the earthspirits and let the concretespirits contend with themselves for awhile. :) While you are away playing among the earthspirits, allow them to work that magic on the Andreaspirit!

And thank you for reminding us how important it is we all do this. I love the painting, too...relax and enjoy.

Andrea, love your painting and the sentiments. I haven't lived in a city for many years. Cape Cod was kind of like the suburbs. And where i am now is definitely the boondocks. So earth is often under my feet. Can you walk in a park, across the grass and sand? Alberta (fictional character written by Cora Sandel and living in Paris in the 20's) used to go to Versailles for a taste of the earth but maybe nowadays Versailles is part of the city.

Thanks goodness for art to take us into the worlds we love. Hugs, Suki

Tammy, your are so right, water color is a medium, a healing one:) And sometimes I'd like to live in the woods, too. Seeing the spirit cousins:)
Thanks for visiting and I'll be off and look at Leahs splotch pictures:)

Kim, your comment is very wise: spend some time in (or with:) the opposite is healing. Yin and Yang.
Thanks for this beautiful comment, it is a poetic farewell. I go and talk to the earthspirits!

Jill, I'm jealous of your weather, yes I am. The watercolours: they want to be left alone, on the paper, or if they must be mixed with others, they want it done delicately. They are squeamish, sometimes:)
I take this book with me tomorrow, Betty Edwards, thanks for reminding me that it is stuck there in my bookshelf...

Suki in the boondocks:) I remember an old song I heard when I was little, with this word in it. I couldn't understand english then but I clearly remember the word boondocks. Or was it a dream?

I can walk in a park, the Bois de Boulogne is not so far away from where our appartment is, but as it is, I seldom do it. That is life here in Paris, you tell yourself that you always can do this or that, you have the possibility, and then you don't do it. :) Weird. This is the reason why you have to get out of here sometimes. Just do it.

Versaille, well I think there should be some earth left there but it is pretty much part of the city. If you want the "real thing" you have to go further out. This book sounds interesting!

Andrea, yes, sometimes we have to reconnect with that deep Earth energy. I love your painted depiction of the recharging.

It's sunny here today. I need to take a walk and take in the energy myself. Thank you for the reminder.

San, that is a great word for describing the painting, "the recharging", I like that. I guess here in the city it is easier still to forget about reconnecting with earth. One gets so easily sidetracked. I should go and do my Tai Chi exercises every morning, there is a little square not far, where I can do this, but I haven't done it for months. Get back to the healthy routine, somehow, vaccation helps to do that.`
Thanks so much for you comment!

Its amazing what you can do with those splotches. Your Vacation comes just in time. I would go nuts living in a City all the time too. I need peace in my life. The city is fun to visit but give me peaceful surroundings and earth to dig and walk on. :)
Have a wonderful rest.
The song you must be thinking of is 'Down in the boondocks'...by Billy Joe Royal.

Unknown said...

Yesssss, Cris, thanks youuuuu, I can hear it loud and clear: down in the boondocks, oh I loved that song!!! although I never knew what boondocks are, now I know, thanks you Suki and Cris!
And I'm oh so glad to get away for two weeks, I'm a city person, weird cause I grew up in the countryside, but I love to get away from time to time:)

Lovely, lovely painting...love it.
Glad you will get some outdoors walking in away from stimulation of the city and concrete.

Andrea, would you email me please and explain how you got your copyright symbol and name to appear on your art work here?
I want to do this as well.
Thanks.

how beautifully this dual nature of us is shown in your watercolor... one part wants to go on, the other wants to pause... one part takes into consideration a thousand things before any action... the other walks naked through the seasons...

contemplative post... and so true...

Andrea,

I'm so enjoying your beautiful watercolors! I wish you could spend a few days in the red rocks of Colorado. It is a very calming and spiritual experience!

Oh, it is beautifully bright and sunny here in the great American Southwest. How I love living in New Mexico.

I've been feeling a bit under the weather so my sweet husband worked in the garden for me this weekend, while I sat in a chair with a big hat and a lemonade. He planted many new babies and our yard looks wonderful.

The city can really wear a person down. I'm glad I live in a quiet neighborhood with a cute little yard. Sure helps to keep my spirit up.

Thinking of you and hope all is well.

Andrea, what a lovely painting this is! Sometimes it really helps to get out and see the countryside for the beauty and inspiration. Maybe we just need a change in scenery to become inspired and energized, something different, something new and mother nature is a wonderful muse.

What a wonderful posting! I love this one. First I thought you painted Gemini, but then I read they are earthspirits. The bright colours are beautiful.

Love this and the words about the Earthspirits--need to remember to listen for/feel them--I live out in the country, but it's easy to forget.
