The Signs of the Zodiac: Capricorn (3)

Before painting a sign of the Zodiac, I always do some research. Here is what I read about the Capricorn in my little french calendar 'Le zodiaque entre religion, science et astrologie" (The Zodiac between religion, science and astrology). I do not know who the author is, but I think he has done a beautiful work and I hope to honour him here with my translation.

I dedicate this post to all you Capricorns out there, and as almost everybody knows a Capricorn, I hope it will be interesting for all of you.

Constellation of the Capricorn

"A bit ill at ease on crowed paths, the Capricorn is prodigious on bold cliffs. One eye in the sky, the other one on the crest he still has to reach. He anticipates his path and he constructs things in his mind before being confronted to the obstacle. He is cold, in accordance with the season in which he is born. His perseverance worthy of the solitary alpinist, helps him reach the heights. And this is where he finds his freedom. This is where he likes to walk with poise, surrounded by emptiness and on the edges of precipices, far from the madding crowd.

Kindred spirits fear for him, but he moves forward. In quest of wild rocks, far from the precincts where life is sweet, he does not fear the storm and he does not mind warnings. He is sure he controles everything, even in extreme situations and he sometimes risks heavy falls. He does not hesitate even if he knows that on his path he will encounter the wolfs. He always believes that the grass is greener on the other side...

He loves solitude and wide landscapes, he is used to both and relies on himself and doesn't bear well with authority and power. In search of a new bunch of fresh green grass, he never renounces conquests and conflicts, even if he has to measure his strength with other's.

He always is in search for affection, he feels that he may not get enough, because he likes to share, too. Perhaps he feels like a baby who's not getting enough milk from her mother's breast (in January the breast are empty) and he tries to compensate this feeling by trying to achieve detachment. He is in balance on his rock outcrop, he does not accept any foul compromise."

Now, do you recognize yourself? Or your brother, mother, father, sister? Lover, friend, teacher, (For HB and DL: I have known Capricorns to be great teachers and perfectionists:)

Have a great day, all you Capricorns and all you other signs:)
Andrea

Hi Andrea, This Capricorn thinks that is very near the truth, I do not like crowds, not sure iam a perfectionist, mainly because i am always in a hurry to gets things finished, unfinished articles get pushed to the back and get forgoten sometimes for years.

Another lovely painting. And I love her outfit with the little dots. If Cap is January I guess my Dad was that. And my friend S. Hmmm. I liked the addition of the description from the calendar. It was lovely without lots of warning words but positive ones. Be well, suki

As always Andrea, this is incredible. I love the roots and wings of the woman so much. While, as you know, I am not a Capricorn I feel very drawn to the description of this type of person.

I love the painting with the colors and the wonderful imagery! Your research shows completely in these paintings.

Thanks Andrea!

WoooooooooW!
Andrea, this is exceptional... i love all your works ... but the second Capricorn touched me deep and this one.... OMG...i'm speechless...
this time it is a 'she'... i love the way her face is hidden and the way she has opened her arms .. her wings ...and they are firey... marvelous...
Let me see... her feet are claws... God ! this is me... the crow...
A crow Capricorn...
The colors.... Andrea you are a master of colors...
looooooove it so much.
And the description... very intersting...
funny since my teens i could climb up a ladder only to the 3rd step but when we went hiking in the mountains, my friends all the time screamed with fear when i stood on the edge of the cliffs enjoying the scenery...

As to the grass... I think the grass is greener where a grasshopper hops!
;)
Teachers and perfectionists... yes you're right... but great teachers ... I'm much flattered...

I bow to you and you art, Andrea...

P.S.
I've been breast-fed for two years by my mother! Sometimes when you have too much, you are more eager to share...you cannot keep it all for yourself.
:D

Have you read the complete chain poem? It is awesome... i love the way we worked together... i loved your line... that was why I wrote my second share to tell BBC how beautiful and true yours is.

@Suki: Yes, it is Dec. 22nd to January 19th, and I agree, I love this description because it is so human, and positive;
@Kim: I'm like you, I feel drawn to this kind of personnality.
@HB: thanks so much for your great comment on this post. Yes I read the complete chain poem on Hooper's site, and love it!
Thank you also for the patience you have and humour dealing with some people I have trouble not to back away from because I don't understand them very much:) I loved to do this poem!

Miss Doodle, Funny you should say that.i have been married to an Aries for 36 Years, Must have some patience somewhere? Capricorn and Aries together are not very Compatable!! Though they say Opposites attract. It has taken me 36 years to train him.
