Andrea! "Sleeping Souls" is wonderful. I love the idea of repose and contemplation this brings to mind. The soft colors off set by the dark "hair" works wonderfully.
This exhibition is going to be over the top...everyone is going to be so mesmerized by your work and the thoughts you bring to their mind with each of these.
I can't tell you how excited I am about this for you...although "Sleeping Souls" is reminding me to take a deep breath and let it out slowly. :)
If you soften the faces, how might you go about that?
Kim, I do not know where these came from, I had intended to do something abstracts and after layers and layers I just painted faces again....:) I guess it is my "big-city" influence and inspired by people's faces mixed with my unconscious:)
I don't know yet how to go about softening these faces, I'll think about it this evening, and tell you about it tomorrow:)
PS: I forgot to say, my husband found this painting made him uneasy, he thinks of dead people floating... well...just to say that perhaps it makes other people uneasy too?
Mmmm, I guess I can see where your husband might see it that way, but for me it is more like meditation...there is life there for me.
You know, Andrea, I find I am so very influenced by geographic location in my paintings. I can imagine the faces do come from being surrounded by them all the time. And it still is abstract, right?
I am eager to hear/see what you think about with the faces. My initial thought was wondering if you would veil them or blur the edges...but I am now thinking you have something different in mind.
Thanks Andrea...really great work you are showing here.
Andrea, I love this painting and didnt think of dead people though can see how that might come to mind. I thought of meditating and dreaming and drifting through space. It feels quiet and peaceful to me. Thanks for telling us a bit about the process, at first an abstract image or desire to create an abstract and then how it evolved into the faces. I think you are so good with faces and their various emotions and expressions and maybe you are just attracted to people and so faces arise in your minds eye naturally. Be well, Suki
It's fun to come here and find a totally new look to an art piece. The Sleeping Souls are that, they are new, different, a different feel to them than your other work, except perhaps some of the masks.
Kim, obviously I didn' do anything to these faces yet:) I was so absentminded these last days, don't know... but now I feel as if energy is coming back so...
Are they dreaming or flying? Or both? They give me a very poetic feeling, hard to discribe. I love them, your expo is going to be a spectacle, i'm sure. Sorry its so far that i cant visit.
Martine, that is a pity, I mean that you cannot visit. But I know it is too far. But thanks oh thanks for liking the souls, I think they are floating. This is something I was really astonished about when it was finished on the canvas. Miracle. Sometimes. love Andrea

Marigaz, heureuse que tu tombe en extase devant l'ange:), il n'y a pas meilleure signe que ce qui me touche touche aussi autrui:)

Interesting work. I tend to agree with your hubby, but then they are facinating at the same time.

Cris, oh I can see that one can see that in them...
Suki, I think that everything you say here is right, and I find faces always so attractive! And you got a new haircut!:) which suits you very well!
Lynn ,yes you are so right, it felt different stil does to me too, but it is a good feeling.
