Watercolor painting and The devils in my palette

This is done on 30 X 30 cm / 11,8 x 14,5 in

During the weekend I worked with watercolor, using bigger sizes of paper.
My intention was to invent shapes with black ink once I had done the colors, but in the end I was reluctant to touch the harmony of the color, done by the water itself.

I use bits of watercolor paper as pallettes and at the end of the day, the work done, I discovered these two devils in my pallette.... the first one has this mischievous look....the other one seems friendly:)

I do love watercolor - it's so graceful, yet can command attention. The second demon, looks like a parrot in a yellow beret - Francoise! Yes, I will name him Françoise. Enjoy the day!

Oh Andrea! This painting is so very beautiful. I can see why you are not willing to touch it at all. I would feel the same way. You have to go with your muse on these things...you know when the time will be right to add the lines. I love this...I think the larger format suits you well...I am thinking all formats suit you well :)

You make me laugh so hard at the devils in your palette! They are truly creatures coming forward...I wonder what they want? LOL

Have a Wonderful Day, Andrea!

Martine, you are so right, it's so grey here in Paris today, almost black...

Kim, thanks for your comment on the painting, which is very encouraging. I'm laughing about your question, well, I asked them: "Whaddayawant?" They answered: "company!" and hurried away...

You sure have cute demons. They make me laugh rather than scare me. Beautiful watercolor works. Thanks for the inspiration.

Suki, if they make you laugh, then that is their only reason to be:)

Babs, Teddy Toad, I love this name, the others too:) Fun.
I think it's because I'm re-reading the Harry Potter books right now:) Very inspiring, for critter painting etc...

Your watercolors are so intense in color. At least the good/bad devil can cancel each other out!

Lovely colours, Andrea! I can also see why you didn't want to add dark ink to this.
I am intrigued by you saying you use watercolour paper as a palette? Do you recycle these pages into another art work? Just seems to be an expensive palette to use!

They are all wonderful - what fun

These are so wonderful, Andrea! I really love the first one, and I agree, it is perfect just the way it is. The other two are clever! Are you Freudian? These remind me of the ink blobs psychiatrists use in therapy.

What strange creatures came to visit you from water paper and paints.
Isn't it fun to find entities hidden in art?
