"Urban landscape"

©estandrea 2009

"Urban Landscape" Acrylic on canvas 23.5 x 15.5 cm / 9.3 x 6.1 in
painted in Germany a couple of weeks ago....

Something flew directly from one of those visual-memory-boxes onto the little canvas...Remembering New York, it's incredible density and rush, it's colorful way....

Today, Tuesday, a warm September day here in Paris, a bit overcast.
I pick the following, somehow provocative quote :

The strongest and most effective force in guaranteeing the long-term maintenance of power is not violence in all the forms deployed by the dominant to control the dominated, but consent in all the forms in which the dominated acquiesce in their own domination. Robert Frost

Have a great day,
love
Andrea

You give New York a huge compliment with this lovely, lovely painting. I remember New York as dirty, dank and crowded with scary, scary people. You however paint it in a crisp, vibrant and joyous light. Did we go to the same place?? Or are your eyes just kinder and see the beauty in all things, whilest mine are critical. I do think I would rather see the world through YOU eyes. Beautiful, just beautiful.

It feels like forever since I've been to your site. Catching up on it all, love the new header. I really like your landscapes, my favorite is the one posted on Friday. It is wonderful that you have the opportunity to spend time with your family. You always inspire me to work harder. Loved catching up on all the beautiful work you have created and I LOVE the landscapes!

Hello Andrea,

I truly love this painting. You have captured, with wonderful composition, the feeling and energy of NY to be sure. The colors you have chosen and you hand in the application of the paint work together so well to bring out that energy of never stopping. This is a beautiful painting to be sure.

I also love the quote you have chosen here. Robert Frost was a master with those highly quotable lines. You have chosen an excellent one!

I have just read your tweet...very intriguing.

Your painting captures the speed of the city so well. The quote i would have to ponder, not sure I quite get it.
