Metroheads - Man in Sandals

The Big Draw Day N° 2
Had a feeling of heaviness, while I draw this man. Did I project my own feelings into the portrait? In the Métro many passengers look as if gravitational force doubles for the time of their journey.

And that feeling of heaviness is well portrayed. He looks despondent. And so french, with the jacket, sandals and heft to his form. Though what do I know, I've never been to france. Great Metrohead.

Andrea, I have to agree with Suki on this one! Your feeling of heaviness shows well in this piece. Usually you do faces, but this time you face on the part that grounds us physically...the feet! It is a great drawing and you do evoke such strong feelings with these sketches!

And Suki, you know...

Thanks Andrea!

You are there at the end of the day, your day and everyone elses too it seems. So lots of tired people. Makes sense. You capture the feeling so well. Do love those sandals too.

Glad you are joining in too :-)) I wonder what it is about commuting that makes us all fel so very 'heavy'... I think I'd rather be out in the sunshine amongst the birds and trees.

Are these people coming or going? If coming home, they're probably dead tired, like me. If going to work, they may be dreading the day, like me. Grin

Andrea, I have yet to see a Metrohead that did not move me. You seemed to capture the essence of that heaviness, tho I can't point to specifically what did that.

As always, I love it.

I doubt it is your own feelings which are projected here, Andrea. When I lived in San Francisco, I often took the underground and I noticed that people had a way of looking somber, and yes, pulled down, during the transit. And when I visited Paris, I believe I saw that too.
